MANILA — The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines on Friday called for truth, justice and due process in light of the allegations made public by former congressman Elizaldy Co. In a statement, CBCP also urged Co to return to the country to file charges and to present verifiable evidence.
“Public declarations on social media, however alarming, cannot take the place of formal testimony in the appropriate legal venues. For the good of the nation, such claims must be examined transparently, impartially, and in accordance with the rule of law,” CBCP President Pablo Virgilio Cardinal David said.
